Mauro Corona

Mauro Corona was born in Erto (Pordenone) in 1950.
As a boy he worked as a lumberjack and quarryman. Since he was a child he carved wood and became a wooden sculptor known throughout Europe.
Mountaineer and climber, he has opened numerous itineraries in the Dolomites and took part in several international expeditions.
In 1997 he released his first book Il volo della martora (Biblioteca dell'immagine)republished later by Mondadori with a preface by Claudio Magris and immediately after Le voci del bosco also published by Biblioteca dell'Immagine. 
He is the author of more than thirty books including: Aspro e dolce, L'ombra del bastone, Vajont: quelli del dopo, I fantasmi di pietra, Cani, camosci, cuculi (e un corvo), Storia di Neve, Il canto delle manéreLa fine del mondo stortoLa voce degli uomini freddi, I misteri della montagna, La via del sole, Nel muro, all published by Mondadori, La casa dei sette ponti (Feltrinelli, 2012) and Confessioni ultime (Chiarelettere, 2013).
He won numerous awards like: Bancarella 2011, Grinzane-Cavour 2008, Mario Rigoni Stern 2014 and was shortlisted for the Campiello 2014. 
He published Nel Muro (Mondadori, 2018) and in September 2019, Il passo del vento will be released, also by Mondadori.
